Iris Hammett

Iris Hammett, 91, of 63 Blackstock Road, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Magnolia Manor. Born April 6, 1918, in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late John S. Hammitt and Mae Durham Hammitt Hodges. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two brothers, Jackie Hodges of Gray, TN, and Lawrence Hammitt of Spartanburg; two sisters, Ella Dean Lett of Gray, TN, and Jonelle Caudill of Spartanburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, in Sunset Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. David Moore. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Sonrise Baptist Church Building Fund, 230 Cherokee Circle, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
