Edith Irene Coe Wood, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 13, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 26, 1930, in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, England, she was the daughter of the late Reginald William and Edith Charlotte Gough Coe, and widow of Joe Wood. A graduate of Heathfield High School in Earl Shilton, England, Mrs. Wood loved to play bridge and also loved gardening. She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and a member of the "Merry Widows" at St. Matthew's. She was a retired sales associate with Hallmark and was a Red Cross volunteer for 10 years. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Wood Dizbon (Rick) of Cowpens, SC; granddaughters, Leah Dizbon Pettit (Franklin) and Charlotte Dizbon Appleby (John), all of Boiling Springs, SC, and Sarah Dizbon Smith (Brandon) of Cowpens, SC; great-grandchildren, Anna, Lizzie, Kaylee, Maria, Rachel, and Jonathan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Reginald Thomas Coe. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, January 17, 2014, in the Kelley Room at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. Rob Brown. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church General Fund, 101 St. Matthew's Lane, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
