Irene Kirby

Irene Gibson Kirby, 88, of Converse, SC, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born July 24, 1927, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Wiley Gibson and Ethel Millwood Gibson and husband of the late Howard Paul Kirby. A loving mother, sister, and wife, Mrs. Kirby was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Laverne Kirby (Linda) of Modoc, SC; two sisters, Betty Gibson and Ila Gossett, both of Glendale, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Donnie Kirby. A cryptside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC, by the Rev. Wayne Major.
