Irene Jackson

Irene Easler Jackson, 102, formerly of 1316 Old Converse Road, Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, October 1, 2012, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born June 13, 1910, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late George Blanton Easler and Mary Etta Gossett Easler. She was the widow of Clarence Edwin Jackson. She was a retired employee of Cannons Elementary School and a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church (formerly Cannons Baptist Church). She will be remembered for her selfless and humble love of family, friends, and others. An avid gardener and incredible cook, her family dinners, filled with joy, powerfully impacted multiple generations. Whatever the task, she truly pursued with all her heart to the glory of Jesus. Her Christ-like character and infectious love of laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her forever. Mrs. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Oneda Jackson McDowell of Spartanburg and a son, George Jackson of Liberty, SC; eight grandchildren, Brenda Yaggie, Dale Mason, Rhonda Hinson, Darrell McDowell, Dennis Jackson, Terri Gilbert, Joy Emory, and Barry Jackson; many great-grand children; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Barney Jackson of Spartanburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, Spartanburg, SC, by the Reverend David Swofford. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Spartanburg, SC. Memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, 130 Conway Black Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family would like to thank the employees of Valley Falls Terrace and Hospice Care of South Carolina for taking such wonderful care of Mrs. Jackson for many years.
