Inger Louise "Christine" Fischer Lawter, 77, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, January 14, 2021, at her residence. She was born August 15, 1943 in Kristiansund, Norway, a daughter to the late Heinz and Edna Voksholm Fischer. She was married to the late James Ronald "Ronnie" Lawter. Christine was the primary care giver for her husband Ronnie, a service-connected quadriplegic, for twenty-seven years before his passing. Although English was her third language, she graduated nursing school at age 50. As a registered nurse, she worked for Mary Black Hospital on the Medical Surgical unit and Rehab. Her final position before retiring was at the Carolina Center for Behavioral Health where she cared for geriatric patients. Christine was a member of the German American Club and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid historian and loved to travel, read and spend time with her family. Surviving is her daughter, Dianne Lawter Ellisor of Spartanburg; her grandson, Evan Mitchell Ellisor; and Cooper, her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Christine was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Fischer and Hansel Fischer. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held at a later date.
