Ina Lea Sandler Minsky, 82, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, in Spartanburg, SC. She was born on August 29, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Minnie and Gershon Sandler.
Ina graduated from Von Steuben High School in Chicago and then Northeastern Illinois University where she earned Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts degrees.
Thus began a life dedication to nurturing and supporting young minds. Ina started her career as an elementary school teacher and then went on to the JCC, where she was a vocational counselor and assisted people with their professional careers. After a move to Spartanburg, Ina worked for the University of South Carolina-Upstate, where as the Director of Opportunity Network, she helped disadvantaged students with academic advising, tutoring and financial aid. She retired in 2012 after twenty-one years of service.
Ina is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Michael; her daughter, Alyse Minsky; her son, Mark Minsky (Ling); her grandchildren, Allison Minsky and Madison Minsky; and her brother, Les Sandler (Barbara).
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rabbi Yossi Liebowitz.
