Imogene T. Hughes

May 13, 1931 — October 6, 2024

Jonesville

Imogene T. Hughes, a beloved matriarch and dedicated Christian woman, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in Jonesville, South Carolina. Born on May 13, 1931, in Limestone County, Tennessee, she lived a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family and friends. She was a daughter of the late, William M. ad Dessie Letterman Traylor.

Imogene, age 93, was employed by S&S Manufacturing, where she rose to the position of Supervisor. Her career was marked by her strong work ethic and her commitment to those she led. However, it was her character that truly defined her. Known for her non-judgmental and loving nature, she stood by those she cherished in every circumstance. Imogene's faith was profound, as she was not only a devoted follower of Christ but also served as a Bible study leader. She took immense pride in reading her Bible daily, having accomplished the remarkable feat of reading it from beginning to end almost every year of her adult life.

Imogene leaves behind a loving family that includes her children, Johnny Riddle (Janice), Joan Mull (Allen), and Brenda Edwards (Garry). She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren, as well as one great-great-grandchild. Her presence as a guiding light in their lives will be sorely missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Hughes; her son, William Mack Riddle; and her brother, Bruce Traylor. The memories of her unwavering support, love, and guidance will forever linger in the hearts of her family.

Her Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pacolet, South Carolina, beginning at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Tommy Sparks and Rev. Scott Cannon officiating. This service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together in honor of Imogene’s remarkable life and the lasting legacy of love she has left behind. The family will receive friends immediately following the service, in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, at klward@srhs.com.
