Hunter Costin Geiss, 26, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 29, 2016, at his home. Born February 12, 1990, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Carlos R. Geiss (Sonia) of Spartanburg and Hilton Head, SC and Jacqueline Jones Putnam (Tony) of Spartanburg, SC. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Hunter was an avid tennis player attending Heritage Academy at Hilton Head and training at the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy of Hilton Head, SC. He enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and football, and loved the Miami Dolphins and Clemson Tigers football teams. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents and step-parents, he is survived by brothers, Christopher Bruno Geiss and Andrew Carlos Geiss; step-sister, Teisha Putnam; aunts and uncles, Ruth Geiss, Paul Geiss (Beth) and their daughter, Courtney, Fernando Geiss (Rose Marie) and her children, Jonathan and Gabriel, Carolyn Geiss Stephens (Adam) and their children, Lindsay, Hayden, and Emma, and Susan "Woozie" Dell (Hunter Bazemore) and son, Allan Cooper Dell III; step-grandmother, Judith Blazer Putnam (the late Joseph Lewis Putnam); and beloved canine companion, Koa. He was predeceased by fraternal grandparents, Bruno Roberto Geiss and Alzira Feldmann Geiss; maternal grandparents, Andrew Jackson Jones and Marie Costin Jones; cousin, William Geiss; and step-sister, Tonya Putnam. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and the Rev. Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow the service at the home of Jacqueline and Tony Putnam, 730 Palmetto St., Spartanburg, SC.
