Howard Allen Wofford, 85, of 281 Woodlawn Avenue, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a long illness. Born July 2, 1923, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Allen (Ben) and Allie Varner Wofford and a loving and faithful husband of 56 years to Elizabeth Stevens Wofford. He was retired after 50 years of service with Arkwright Mills and later worked for Community Cash. He was a member of Arkwright First Baptist Church for fifty years where he faithfully served as an Usher. He was a former volunteer at the Arkwright Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Wanda W. Lamb and her husband Wayne of Roebuck, and Sandra W. Gosnell and her husband Danny of Boiling Springs; four grandchildren, Wendy L. Saverance and her husband Trent, Beth Lamb, Barry Lamb, and Adam Gosnell; and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Payne Saverance. He was predeceased by two sisters, Elise Hollifield and Janelle Thomas; and three brothers, Carl, Marvin, and Clyde Wofford. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Arkwright First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Michael Woods, Dr. Curtis Daniel, and Dr. Bruce Russell. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Arkwright First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O.
