Howard Varner

Howard Lee Varner, 91, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Magnolia Place. Born April 12, 1919 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Herbert Lee and Dora Stephens Varner and husband of the late Doris Christine McFee Varner. He retired after 40 years of service from Arkwright Mills and was a member of Arkwright First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Roger (Karen) Varner of Pacolet and Terry (Sharon) Varner of Cowpens; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Varner of Roebuck; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Randall Varner and a brother, Thelbert Varner. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on March 4, 2011 at Arkwright First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Billy Fowler. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
