Howard Marion Prince

July 15, 1929 — May 25, 2024

Spartanburg

It is with profound respect and love that we commemorate the life of Howard Prince, a man of exceptional dedication to Christ and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Howard departed from this world on Saturday, May 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and selflessness.

Born in Abington, Virginia on July 15, 1929, Howard served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of Bluefield and Concord College. Howard married Alice Asbury and started his career and family in Bristol, Tennessee.  Howard rose to Director of Purchasing and worked for several pharmaceutical firms during his career.  He served his community through the Kiwanis, Jaycees and Boy Scouts. After retirement, he and Alice moved to South Carolina to be closer to family where he touched the lives of others through his time as an usher at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.

He is survived by his adored wife, Alice Prince, his beloved children, Kim Prince of Greenville, South Carolina and Jayne West (Bob) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and his cherished grandchildren, Bert West of Clemson, South Carolina and Jack West of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Georgia Prince, brothers, Dr. John Prince and Lester Prince, and sister, Ruth Cowan.

The family will be holding a private ceremony with military honors. In remembrance of Howard’s altruistic spirit and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice. Howard’s memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were close to him. Until his last moments, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who lived to serve others and the Lord.
