Howard Willard Davis, Sr.

Mr. Howard Willard Davis, Sr., 96, of Chesnee, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his home.  A native of Spartanburg, he was born March 12, 1927, a son of the late Abe Jefferson and Lillie Splawn Davis, and was the husband of the late Margaret Easler Davis.

He was retired from Drayton Mills, also working at Dan River Mills in Fountain Inn and The Cliffs at Glassy. He was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Discipleship Sunday School Class. He was a former volunteer fireman with Boiling Springs Fire Department, former member of Lan-Yair Country Club and most of all, an avid golfer.

Surviving are his children, Dianne D. Wofford (Fred) of Moore, Renee Davis (Josephine Porter) of Oak Park, IL., and Howard Willard Davis, Jr. of Mooresboro, NC.; eight grandchildren, Lanie Kimbrell (Rodney), Lisa Smith (Carl), Dana Davis, Brooke Shugart (Henry), Bonnie Thomas, Emerson Porter, Lillie Porter and Hogan Porter; 14 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Davis of Spartanburg.

A visitation will be on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, 3600 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 12 O’clock Noon in the church sanctuary conducted by the Rev. Dr. Hank Williams and Rev. Bobby Lindsey. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
