Horace Eugene "Gene" High, 91, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 3, 1920 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Horace Grady and Alma Correll High and the husband of the late Jean Vassy High. He retired from Arrow Automotive after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the John Nicholson Sunday School class, and a former member of the Breakfast Optimist Club. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn H. Hagmann of Charleston; a son, Phillip E. High and wife Sandra of Spartanburg; granddaughters, Laura Fowler and husband Adam and Kimberly Hagmann, all of Charleston; and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jordan Fowler. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Correll High; and sisters, Lois Schlagenhauf and Ruth Pettit. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
