Herman Stapleton

Herman Matthew Stapleton, 81, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 20, 1933 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late John and Ruth Hammett Stapleton. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was a member of Bible Truth Chapel. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Quinn Stapleton; daughters Joy (David) Hayes, Jane (Chuck) Poole, both of Boiling Springs, SC; and Peggy Smith, of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by six brothers, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visitation will be 2:00 - 2:45 PM, Monday, September 8, 2014, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy. 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, by the Rev. Larry Buchanan, Pastor Mitchel Edge, and Dr. Bobby Bowers. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with military rites by American Legion Post #28. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Truth Chapel, 222 Floyd Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home.
