Henry Pruitt, Jr.

Henry Martindale Pruitt, Jr., 97, formerly of Thornhill Drive, Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 11, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 4, 1919, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude Poole Pruitt and husband of the late Mary Laurens Pruitt. A graduate of Fairforest High School, Mr. Pruitt retired in 1981 from Southern Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Survivors include his daughter, Vicky Pruitt Parris (Richard) of Conover, NC; sons, M. Dale Pruitt (Laurie) of Spartanburg, SC, Patrick R. Pruitt of Greenville, SC, and Michael L. Pruitt of Spartanburg, SC; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2016, in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth.
