Helen Ann Staab Veverka, 79, of 237 Summerfield Road, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born October 18, 1929, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Apolonia Edel Staab. A graduate of Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, NY, she was a retired executive secretary from Wofford College and Milliken Research Corporation. She was a member of the Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior, Altrusa International, Inc. since 1975, and a volunteer for the Spartanburg County Public Libraries Gift Shop. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Veverka; a daughter, Nancy Catherine Lewis of Boiling Springs; two sons, Steven Charles Veverka and Thomas William Veverka, both of Spartanburg; a sister, Virginia Daly of Hillsdale, NJ; three grandchildren, Wendy Robinson, Amanda Inman, and Jared Lewis; and five great-grandchildren, Alysa, Andrew, Adam, McKenzie, and Anna. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Aaron Ewing. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel conducted by the Rev. James M. Crowley. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens.
