Helen Smith

Helen Knox Smith, 90, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Somerby Memory Care in Charleston. Born in White Stone, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur and Ammie Smith Knox and the cherished and beloved wife of the late Jesse Edward Smith. Helen graduated from Pacolet High School. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class. She worked in Sunday School with Beginners and Primaries for many years. She was the devoted and admired mother of four surviving sons, Michael Edward Smith and his wife Alice of Newmarket, NH; William "Randy" Randolph Smith and his wife Donna of Dallas, TX; Timothy Knox Smith and his wife Martha of Charleston, SC; and Kevin Jesse Smith and his wife Jane of Fort Worth, TX; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, J. D. Knox of Lyman. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday, February 23 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The sons will serve as pallbearers.
