Mrs. Helen Montgomery, 86, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her home. Born February 26, 1924 in Cramerton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Lela Lane Case and the wife of the late H. R. "Buck" Montgomery. She was formerly employed with Converse College, was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, and was a former singer with the USO during World War II at Camp Croft. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Salerno and wife Dottie of Greensboro, NC and Tony Salerno and wife Lisa of Fort Mill, SC; a sister, Bobbie Ivester of Inman; a brother, J. D. Case of Simpsonville; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Terry Gilbert; two brothers, Lloyd and Leonard Case; and her first husband, Joseph "Bill" Salerno. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, September 3, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 4, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Merrill Graves and the Rev. Bob Wofford.
