Helen Mullins McKelvey, 74, of Magnolia Manor, Inman, and formerly of Rosetta Court, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 8, 1934, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Paul Bomar Mullins and Lois Hembree Mullins Bowen and step-daughter of the late SSgt Glenn J. Bowen. She was a member of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg. Survivors include her husband, Clarence McKelvey; two daughters, Debbie Hands and Thelma Wilks; three sons, William McKelvey, James McKelvey, and Leon McKelvey; two sisters, Eunice Benfield and Jean McCraw; and a brother, Buddy Bowen. She was predeceased by three sons, Michael Dale McKelvey, Wayne McKelvey, and Raymond Junior Morgan; and her stepfather, SSgt Glenn J. Bowen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Donnan Lawson. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
