Helen Johnson

Helen Montgomery Johnson, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Victor Moss Montgomery Jr. and Joan Crowell Montgomery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Spartanburg, SC where she attended local schools. She also attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, MA, Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL, and the University of South Carolina Spartanburg. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years and was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William Maurice Johnson; their children, Edward Montgomery Johnson and Katherine Johnson Clark (Mike) all of Spartanburg, SC, and Joan Johnson Erbskorn (Jeffrey) of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Caroline M. Wilder (Jeremy), Madeline M. Stevens (Jordan), Meredith E. Clark, Jamieson M. Clark, Andrew M. Erbskorn and William T. Erbskorn; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Victor Moss Montgomery III. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 101 St. Matthew's Lane, Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by The Rev. Robert L. Brown and The Rev. Mia D. McDowell. Visitation will follow the service in the church Gallery. Burial will be private.
