Helen Clark

Helen Virginia James Clark, 92, of Spartanburg, died Monday, March 28, 2011. Born November 25, 1918, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Annie Mae Edgens James and the wife of the late Harry Jennings Clark. Mrs. Clark was a former employee of Spartan Mills and a member of First Wesleyan Church. She was a former Sunday School teacher for 63 years, the director of Women's World International, and a board member of the local church. Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Grisham of Spartanburg, Linda Carroll and Judy Dills both of Inman; a son, Stephen Clark (Marsha) of Campobello; grandchildren, David Grisham, JoAnne Bennett, John Gilliland, Jill Raborn, Doug Dills, and Jami Hughes; great-grandchildren, Allison Cavendish, Heather Sheetz, Mindy Bennett, Stephen Grisham, Rob and Nichole Gilliland, John Michael, Hunter, and Katie Raborn, Jake and Myranda Dills, and Taylor and Abby Hughes; great-great-granchildren, Hudson and Mary - Clark Cavendish, and Cole Bennett. Mrs. Clark was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Gary Long, Pastor Mitchel Edge, and Mr. Jan Miller. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family wishes to express thanks to Hospice caregivers Rosa Gardner and Tamika Murphy for their compassionate care. The family is at the home of Judy Dills, 393 Lake Road, Inman, SC.
