Helen Ruff Cantrell, 84, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 24, 1927, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late B. Z. Ruff, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Williams Ruff, and wife of the late Ted R. Cantrell. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and a former employee of Heinitsh Walker Pharmacy. Survivors include her son, Lee Groce of Greer; daughters, Meg Long and Judy Wines, both of Pauline; four grandchildren, Kevin Long, Leslie Crews, Jim Groce, and Jake Smith; and a sister, Sara Parris of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by five brothers, B. Z. Jr., Henry, James, George, and John Ruff; and two sisters, Martha Moran and Mary Eggen. Funeral and committal services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 22, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Rob Gouge, the Rev. Keith Davis, and the Rev. Ed Traxler. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stone Station Baptist Church Nursery Fund, 201 Walnut Grove Lane, Roebuck, SC 29374.
