Helen Bobo Bryson, 98, died peacefully after a full and loving life on Thursday, May 20, 2021. She was born in Gray Court to the late Vivian and Ralph Bobo on August 22, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, James Marion Bryson and her daughter, Sara Bryson Smith of Greenwood, SC. She is now reunited with her parents and three brothers as well as her great-granddaughters, Hunter Kate Holcomb and Kelsey Elizabeth Smith.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Martha Bryson Rhodes and husband Bill of Greenville; her son–in-law Tedd Smith of Abbeville, SC; her six grandchildren, Elizabeth Rhodes Holcomb (Jay), Sherry Rhodes Smith (Ryan), Christina Rhodes Starnes, Jim B. Smith (Heather), Jessica Smith Willard (Jason) and Sharon Smith; her 19 great-grandchildren, Kayla Pack, Rhodes Kriske, Madison Hunt, Ryan Holcomb, Hannah Holcomb, William Holcomb, Preslee Holcomb, Kristen Smith, Kaylee Smith, Kenzie Smith, Kyah Smith, Kolson Smith, Kaleb Smith, Austin Starnes, Riley Starnes, Andrew Smith, Kennedy Smith, Keaton Willard and Bryson Willard; and her two great-great-grandchildren, Maya and Wesley Hunt.
A graduate of Limestone College with a BS in Education, Helen enjoyed many years of teaching in Laurens and Spartanburg County public schools. She led a life of ministry serving others by delivering Meals on Wheels with Marion, teaching Sunday School, and sending hundreds of cards to many loved ones.
The family has deep gratitude to the staff and care givers at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg, The Gardens at Eastside in Greenville, and the staff at McCall Hospice in Simpsonville for their sweet, loving care.
A family visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.O. Ezell Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301. Funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Robert Brozina. The Service of Committal and burial will be at Cannon Memorial Park, 1150 N. Main Street, Fountain Inn, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.O. Ezell Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
