Hazele Bailey

Hazele Crawley Bailey, 92, of 400 Webber Road, formerly of Magness Drive, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at White Oak Estates. Born September 21, 1917 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. Crawley, Jr. and Nannie McGinnis Crawley and wife of the late Ralph J. Bailey, Sr. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Palmetto School of Beauty Culture where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She was a hairdresser retiring after sixty two years and was owner of Bailey's Beauty Shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, the Hope Sunday School Class, the Young at Heart, and taught Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church while working with Primary and Junior girls. Survivors include three children, Sybil Payne and husband Charles of Campobello, Jim Bailey and wife Carol of Spartanburg, and Judy Griffin and husband Bobby of Spartanburg; a brother, Dan S. Crawley, III of Frankfort, KY; four grandchildren, Scott Bailey (Terri), Lisa Lee (Rick), Charles T. Payne (Charlotte), and Charlotte Mathis (Kyle); and six great-grandchildren, Griffin and Joshua Mathis, Andrew and Sara Bailey, Michael and Katie Lee. She was predeceased by three sisters, Louise Crawley, Catherine Blakely, and infant Doretha Crawley. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bill Adams and the Rev. Eddie Cooper. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P. O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.
