Hazel Cook Wilson was called to the arms of Jesus April 8, 2025. Formerly of Bethesda Road and Springfield Community, she was a resident at Lake Emory Post Acute Care in Inman, SC. The daughter of the late Robert L. and Winnie Shipman Moore, she was born March 9, 1934. The oldest of 6 children, she is the last surviving member of the family.
She was first married to the late Kenneth Cook, the father of her children, and then married to the late Jim Wilson. She graduated from Pacolet High School, graduated from the Surgical Tech program at Spartanburg General Hospital, and retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after 28 years of service in the Emergency Department.
Mrs. Wilson is a member of Holston Creek Baptist Church in Inman, SC, and a member of the Red Hat Club in Inman.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Suttles (Gerald) of Cowpens, and her son Tommy Cook (Cheri) of Rochester, NY. She has 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren and is expecting a new great grand in May. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a daughter Margie Wilson and a son Wayne Cook and a special granddaughter in law, Michaele Lewis. Also, predeceased are 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, April 14, 2025, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Retired Pastor of Holston Creek Baptist Church and Chaplain at Agape Hospice, The Rev. Reggie Parker will conduct the services and Barry Neely, Director of Music at Holston Creek Baptist Church will provide music.
