Hazel Whitt

March 19, 1920 — October 22, 2016

Hazel Johnson Whitt, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 19, 1920 in Clifton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Emma Henderson Johnson. She was the devoted wife of the late Toy Westmoreland Whitt for 70 years. Hazel was a member of Clifton First Baptist Church and attended Skylyn United Methodist Church in recent years as her health permitted. She loved quilting and gardening. Survivors include sons, Bobby Whitt (Mary) of Clifton, SC; Larry "Joe" Whitt (Joyce) of Boiling Springs, SC; Kenneth Whitt (Deborah) of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Janice Whitt Harrell (Wesley) of Spartanburg, whom she resided with; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Shelby Jean Whitt and a sister, Gertha Johnson Parker. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. James B. Carter. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Skylyn United Methodist Church, 1415 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at their respective homes.
