Hazel Szwapa

Hazel Theresa Brady Szwapa, 73, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at her home. Born December 27, 1939, in Toccoa, GA, she was a daughter of the late Rudolf and Mary Hall Brady and wife of the late Frank Thomas Szwapa for 43 years. She graduated from Stephens County High School in 1957 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, PWA (Polish Women's Alliance) and PRCU (Polish Roman Catholic Union). Survivors include three daughters, Drs. Cynthia and Frank Irizarry of Wilmington, MA, Drs. Mary and George Haddad, and Ms. Karen Patinella, all of Spartanburg; a son, John Szwapa of Spartanburg; a sister, Mary Strickland; and six grandchildren, Gabrielle, John, Sarah, Cristiano, Frankie, and Becca Grace. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Justin Kendrick and the Rev. Jon Paul Watson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice of Spartanburg, 1060 Boiling Springs Road, Suite 1, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
