Hazel Rollins

Hazel Powell Rollins, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 28, 1921, in Easley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wade McFall and Essie Jane Holtzclaw Powell, and widow of Hubert Rollins. She was of the Baptist faith and formerly employed in the textile industry. Survivors include her children, Lyn Rollins Owens and her husband Jerry of Spartanburg, SC, and Jane Rollins DeBruin of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Kevin Owens, Rachel Owens, Missy Eldreth, and Bo DeBruin; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Azara Wilson of Asheville, NC, and Frances Casey of Nashville, TN. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Bill DeBruin; brothers, Fulton and Albert Powell; and a sister, Helen Powell. The family will hold a private graveside memorial service in Ft. Prince Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Soup Kitchen, 136 South Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
