Hazel Pepper

Hazel Koon Harris Pepper, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born November 28, 1932, in Ferndale, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Virgie Grimmett Koon. A graduate of Spartanburg Junior College, Mrs. Pepper retired from Community Cash Stores after 30 years of service. Following her retirement, she was employed by Camp Care (Lake Emory Post Acute Care) Nursing Home. She was a member of Drayton Baptist Church where she participated in the 3-R's and the choir. Among survivors are her children, Patsy H. Steadman (Dennis) of Spartanburg, SC, and William W. Harris of Palm Springs, CA; granddaughter, Amanda Snipes (James) of Spartanburg, SC; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Colson Snipes; sisters, Ruby, Media, Dollie, and Marion; and brother, Sidney. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Louie Wilfond "Pete" Harris and second husband, Mike Pepper; and seven brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Randell D. Blackman, Sr. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Dennis Steadman.
