Hazel C. Hogan, 90, of 137 River Run, Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Forest City, NC, died peacefully at her home Friday, September 2, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Cliffside, NC, she was the daughter of the late Broadus and Rhoda Self Cash. Hazel retired from Cone Mills in Cliffside after 30 years of employment with the company. She was a longtime and faithful member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church in Forest City where she taught Sunday School in the Junior Department for many years. Upon her move to Spartanburg, she became a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Eugene Hogan. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Broadus R. and Pat Hogan, and Thomas E., Jr. and Cynthia M. Hogan, all of Spartanburg; two sisters, Flossie Harmon of Forest City, and Geneva Hogan of Pacolet; three grandsons, Dennis, Kenny, and Hunter Hogan of Spartanburg; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be 1:00-2:15 PM Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Eastside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM, in the church, with the Rev. Mike Royal and the Rev. Gerald Burnett officiating. A committal service will follow at 4:30 PM in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
