Hazel Henrickson

Hazel W. Henrickson, 91, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Hospice of Union County-Monroe, NC. Born January 19, 1922, in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Aleph Baber Henrickson. Miss Henrickson received her Master's Degree from Appalachian State University. A retired educator, she was formerly employed at Pacolet High School and as Librarian at Pine Street Elementary. Following retirement, she was a dietary assistant at Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg. She was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg where she was a Sunday School teacher and a volunteer at The Helping Center. She was devoted to her family. She cared for her parents their entire lives, reared her niece, and considered her nephew, Josh Rhodes, as her grandson. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and quilting as hobbies. Surviving are her nieces, Stephanie Bliss Rhodes (Mark), Julia Kirby (Terry), Hope Harley (Tom), and Lyn Warwick; and nephews, David Warwick and Sidney Burgess. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Monday, September 9, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
