Hazel Gibson Hogan, 87, of Pacolet Mills, SC, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 3, 1930, in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lamar Paul Gibson and Virginia Ethel Jett Gibson. Hazel loved her family, friends, home, community, and being a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. She enjoyed swinging on her porch swing, as well as cooking, and was known for her chocolate fudge, chocolate pie, and macaroni and cheese. She also loved reading and crossword puzzles. A graduate of Union High School, she attended Spartanburg Technical College and was employed with Pacolet Manufacturing, retiring from Mayfair Mills. Survivors include her daughter, Gail Hogan Hood (Clary) of Cowpens, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Hood Sellars of Boiling Springs, SC, Laurie Hood Cothran of Lake Blalock, SC, and Wesley Lamar Hood Sr. (Nichole) of Sevierville, TN; great-grandchildren, Brittany Sellars Locke (Jared), Jordan Christopher Sellars, Garrison Carter Sellars, Lauren Elizabeth Sellars, William Crawford Cothran, Olivia Reagan Cothran, Alexander Hogan Cothran, Madilyn Jean Hood, and Wesley Lamar Hood Jr.; sister, Helen Gibson Gore of Pacolet, SC; brother, O'Neil Rogers Gibson of Spartanburg, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Badralsadat "Badri" Madani. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Caroline Grace Sellars; and former husband, Samuel Carter Hogan. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 16, 2018, in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372, by The Rev. Norman L. Band.
