Hazel Gilbert

Hazel Carol Gilbert, 76, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC. Born November 18, 1934, in Harris, NC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie Hardin Jenkins. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Hazel was an inactive member of Harris Baptist Church in NC, she considered Eastside Baptist Church as her church family. She was a former employee with Howard Johnsons Restaurant. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Stowe of Spartanburg, SC, Nancy (Steve) Thomas of Spartanburg, SC, Beth (Tim) Brigmon of Spindale, NC, and Cindy (Russell) Davis of Moore, SC; son, Art (Susie) Gilbert of Andulasia, AL; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by Rev. Mike Royal. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Kevin Donald, Brad Towery, Cory Gilbert, Jeffrey Palmer, Noah Lytle, Sean Lytle, and Peyton Griffin.
