Hattie Lee Poole Kirby, 81, of Pacolet, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at her home. Born November 7, 1930, in Gaffney, SC, she was the widow of James "Buttermilk" Kirby, Jr., and daughter of the late Nathan Monroe and Emma Jackson Poole. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Wayne Kirby and wife Nancy of Columbia; daughter, Rita Kirby and husband Joe Green of Pacolet; grandchildren, David Kirby of Greenville, Kelly Kirby of Charleston, Cynthia Powell of Pacolet, Donnie Powell of Pacolet, and Ann Miller of Chapin; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bobby G. Poole and wife Annette, Roy C. Poole, and Talmadge S. Poole, all of Gaffney. She was predeceased by a sister, Lillie Mae Poole West; brothers, Jack Pittman Poole and Herschel Lee Poole; and step-grandson, Robert "Bob" Fulton Dukes IV. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, June 8, 2012, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, by the Rev. Clifford Phillips and the Rev. Dennis Tessnier. Entombment will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will follow at the cryptside.
