Haskel Sexton, 77, of 656 Highway 417, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 26, 1932, in Colson, KY, he was the son of the late William I. and Nancey Bowling Sexton. A graduate of Colson Elementary School and Whitesburg (KY) High School, he was the owner and operator of Sexton Diesel Service from 1972-2001, and prior to that, he was employed at Dowd Construction for 17 years. He was a Mason, a farmer, a member of the SC Cattleman's Association, a U.S. Army Veteran, and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include; a son, Haskel Sexton, II and wife Crystal: his former wife, Jo Ann Whitlock of Moore; a brother, Winifred "Rad" Sexton and wife Mildred of Farmland, IN; a sister-in-law, Ina Pauline Sexton, who was married to his late brother, Wilgus "Wig" Sexton; four grandchildren, Christian T. Sexton, William H. Sexton, Haskel Sexton, III, and Anna M. Garrett; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Nancey Jo Sexton; brothers, Theodore Sexton and Harold Sexton; and a sister, Eva Sexton Slone. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Bevill. Burial will be in Babe-Isom Cemetery in Isom, KY.
