Harvey Dean

Harvey Ronald Dean, 62, of Spartanburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 4, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Alma Henson Dean and the late Harvey Dean. He was formerly employed with Arrow Automotive of Spartanburg with 31 years of service and was currently self-employed. He served in the U.S. Navy as quarter master 3rd rank. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dean; four children, Deborah Motts and her husband Billy of Woodruff, Mary Anne Brown of Spartanburg, Tanya Donald and her husband Patrick of Duncan, and Steve Brown and his wife Horn of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Sandra Brown and her husband Danny of Pacolet, and Mary O'Shields and her husband Marshall of Buffalo; and seven grandchildren. He was a heroic mentor for his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at the home.
