Harry Livingston Shinn, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was born on October 25, 1942, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late, Harry Livingston Shinn, Sr. and Lela Gibson Shinn.
Harry was a graduate of Duke University and later obtained his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He held a notable career as an active member in the community. Following his retirement, Harry dedicated his time working with the Spartanburg Public Library. His passion for education and literature was evident as he contributed to the enrichment of countless individuals through his work.
Alongside his professional achievements, Harry had a deep appreciation for the arts, particularly opera. He possessed an unwavering love for this art form which brought him great joy and inspiration throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Wells Shinn; their daughter, Kerri Shinn Klinker (Matt), and four grandchildren: Sarah, Claire, Maggie, and Jackson Klinker. Preceding Harry in death, is his son, Harry Shinn, III.
A visitation in memory of Harry Livingston Shinn Jr.'s life will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 20, 2023, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main, Spartanburg, SC 29306
