Harold Wilkie Jr.

Harold Boyce "Sunshine" Wilkie, Jr., 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at home, surrounded by family after a long illness. He was born March 19, 1930 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Harold B. Wilkie, Sr. and Maude Spurgeon Wilkie. Harold graduated high school in 1948 and was a graduate of Cecil's Business College. A Veteran of the Korean War, Harold served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Rio Grande from 1952 - 1958. He retired from Hammond Brown Jennings in 1992. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Burgess Wilkie; two daughters, Barbara Siders of Spartanburg, SC; Susan Rollins of Greenwood, SC; a son, Russell Wilkie of Duncan, SC; brother, Bernard Wilkie of Campobello, SC; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by a son, Kenneth Wilkie. Graveside service with full Military Rites will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow at the graveside. The family would like to extend our gratitude to all of the staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their attentiveness and care given to Harold in his final days.
