Harold Sosbee

Harold Walter Sosbee, 77, beloved husband soul mate of Jo Hines Sosbee, entered into eternal rest Friday, March 15, 2013, at White Oak Estates Nursing Home. Born January 5, 1936, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Allie Beach and Adam Carlton Sosbee. Harold retired from Converse School Bus Shop. He also taught Automotive Mechanics part time for eight years at Spartanburg Technical College. He was an avid bowler and loved to fish. He was volunteer coach with the Special Olympics until his health forced him to stop. Harold was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and the Royal Sunday School Class. He was a member of Morgan Lodge #22 Knights of Pythias, the Grand Lodge of South Carolina, and in 2005, was awarded the Degree of the Golden Spur by the Grand Lodge of SC. He was also a member of the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan, the Southeastern Pythian Association, and American Legion Post #28. He was a former Shriner and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brent of Spartanburg and a daughter, Lori Yarborough of Hartsville, SC and two grandchildren, Steven Sosbee of Spartanburg and Sarah Yarborough of Hartsville. Also surviving are sisters: Ruth Anderson of Shawano, WI, Frances Christopher of Waterloo, SC, and Betty Butts of Arcadia, SC; brothers: Herman Sosbee and Kenneth Sosbee, both of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gary, Richard, Earl, and Alvin Sosbee. Visitation will be 1:00-2:15 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM in the sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
