Harold R. Ellis, Sr. passed away on June 21st, 2023, in Cowpens. He was born on December 22nd, 1935, in Gaffney to Fred Lee Ellis and Effie Odell Spencer Ellis.
Harold graduated high school and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, Harold began his career as a Manager with Hoechst Celanese, where he worked for over fifty years. Harold played an important role in the company's growth and success.
Harold had many hobbies and interests which included hunting for birds and deer, fishing, gardening, and traveling with his wife, Virginia, in a motor home they purchased after their retirement.
He was a dedicated family man and raised five children whom he loved dearly; Harold (Rudy) Ellis Jr. (Karen) of Gaffney, Alicia Brown (Robert) of Landrum, Kimberly Greenway of Georgia, Derrick Ellis (Lynn McSwain) of Cowpens and Jason Ellis of Gaffney. He was also blessed with ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom he adored. In addition to being a devoted father and grandfather, Harold was a wonderful fur-baby dad to Cesar and Buddy.
In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia Ellis in 2015.
Harold will be remembered as a kind soul who lived life to the fullest with an adventurous spirit. His positive attitude and generous nature touched the lives of everyone he met.
A visitation will be held for family and friends to pay their respects at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel on Sunday, June 25th starting at 2:00 PM followed by his funeral service at 3:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Rick Bishop. The entombment will take place following the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
We mourn this great loss but take comfort knowing that Harold lived a life full of love, joy and touched so many people.
