Harold Powell

Harold Dean Powell, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his home. Born October 3, 1934, in Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late Olin and Edna Bradley Powell. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Mr. Powell was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Surviving is his loving wife, Barbara Joyce Christian Powell; sons, Bryon Powell (Wendy) of Lyman, SC, and Jerry Powell (Beverley) of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Kirsty Powell, Christian Powell, Patrick Powell, Cheyenne Carstensen, and Monica Powell; great-grandchildren, Brian Powell and Sophie Gosnell; and his brother, Bill Powell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Powell. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. E. Jennings Putnam. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
