Harold Dudley Hatfield,Jr

Harold Dudley (Hal) Hatfield Jr., 77, died Saturday, June 24, 2023,  peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends, after a brief illness.  Born April 12, 1946, in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Jeroline Atkinson Yelton and Harold Dudley Hatfield, Sr.  He was a Baptist of the Christian faith.

Mr. Hatfield was retired from Colonial Life Insurance and was currently employed with American National Insurance, Clyde McNeill Agency.  He served 4 years in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran.

Surviving are two daughters, Dawn Hatfield Hodges (Chris) of Summerton, SC, and Tara Hatfield Browder of Sumter, SC; one son, Harold Dudley (Trey) Hatfield III of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Nancy Hatfield Walton (Johnny), Charlene Lattuca Weeks (Tommy) and Tracy Lattuca Hawks (Ricky).  He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Hunter Christian Hodges (Hillary), Madison Layne Browder and Katelyn Nicole Covington (Hunter); a great granddaughter, Ella Jane Covington, as well a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM  conducted by Mrs. Sharon Guy along with military honors, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307

Our family would like to express the utmost gratitude and respect for all the nurses and doctors at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, especially mentioning 5 Heart and CCU Heart and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the exceptional care and patience that they afforded our father.
