Harold Benjamin Foster, 87, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Skylyn Place-Spartanburg. Born March 9, 1926, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late William Rice and Della Ramsey Foster. A veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Foster served with the Occupation Forces in Japan after World War II. He was the owner and operator of Foster's Garden and Landscape Center for 50 years and received his Degree in Horticulture from Clemson University in 1951. He was also a member of Morningside Baptist Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a member of the Rotary Club, and an avid Clemson fan. Surviving is his beloved wife, Nancy Bowen Foster; daughter, Ann Viehman (Rick) of Tryon, NC; son, Michael W. Foster of Inman, SC; granddaughter, Megan Viehman of Tryon, NC; grandson, William S. Foster of Columbia, SC; sister, Francis F. Collins of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Randall R. Foster of Winnsboro, SC. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
