Harold Bogan, Sr.

Harold Edward "Bo" Bogan Sr., 79, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 28, 1932, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Jesse Cleveland Bogan, Sr. and Lavada Allen Bogan. Mr. Bogan was a U. S. Navy veteran, deep sea diver, and history buff. Bo had a diverse life following graduation from Fairforest High School. He attended San Jacinto College and graduated from the University of Houston. He was a former accountant for Ray Parton Co, Pasadena, TX, and an antique auctioneer for 35 years: Bogan's Auctions 1977-1991 in Pearland, TX, then 1992-present in Spartanburg, SC. He also served as past master of Walter M. Pearson Masonic Lodge in Houston, TX, was a member of the South Carolina Auctioneer Association, and an owner and lover of classic antique cars. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Evelyn Massey Bogan; children, Harold E. Bogan, Jr. and wife Terri of Moore, Debbie B. Brown and husband Fred of Boiling Springs, Michael E. Bogan and wife Phyllis of Spartanburg, Darrell I. Bogan of Spartanburg, Ronald E. Bogan of Spartanburg, Linda Cantrell of Spartanburg, and Sissy Longshore of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Lorantz Bogan and wife Barbara of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Dwayne Bogan; four brothers, Jesse Cleveland Bogan Jr., Allen Hudon Bogan, John Earl Bogan, and Larry Eugene Bogan; and five sisters, Catherine Bogan Burdette, Helen Bogan Kelly, Cornelia Bogan Key, Emily Bogan, and Geraldine Bogan Cox. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Cryptside services, with military rites by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard, will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Keith Taylor. Visitation will follow at the cryptside.
