Happy Outz Bishop, a lifelong resident of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 77, while under hospice care in Forest City, NC. Born on September 2, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late, Elzie Lowry Outz and Mattie Emma Switzer Outz.

Happy was a vibrant lady known for making the most out of life. She was lovingly referred to as "2mom" by her grandchildren, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Happy was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her social nature led her to embrace every chance that came her way to travel, she particularly enjoyed taking trips with her girlfriends.

Happy's zest for life was matched by her deep-rooted faith and commitment to her church communities. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Spartanburg for over 35 years before joining Morningside Baptist Church, where she remained actively engaged for over 10 years. Her enthusiastic participation included singing in the choir, playing hand bells, and serving on various social committees. Her compassion extended beyond her activities in the church as she often visited the homebound and cherished taking part in senior trips.

In addition to her unwavering commitment to her family and faith, Happy also found joy in hobbies such as needlepoint, cross-stitch, shopping and playing cards, especially with her Bridge Clubs, where she developed many lasting friendships.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband of 56 years, Sam Bishop; daughter, Angie (Frank) Earnhardt; son, Scott Bishop; grandchildren, Will Woodard, and great-grandchildren, Easton and Emery Woodard; grandson, Jake Woodard; granddaughter, Shelby Bishop; sister, Vicki Rhodes; and brother, E.L. Outz, all of Spartanburg.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Services will be officiated by the Rev. Miriam Mick and the Rev. Sal Barone.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.

Happy Outz Bishop will be remembered for her joyful spirit, unwavering love for her family, and her connections within the community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and an indelible impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing Happy.
