Hallie Smith

Hallie Loyd Smith, 86, formerly of Arcadia, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John Freeman and Leila Thompson Loyd She was a retired supervisor for Spartan Undies and a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband: Dalton Ivan Smith of Spartanburg, a daughter, Barbara E. Rutledge and husband Charles of Boiling Springs; a son, Larry Dean Smith and wife Jean of Inman; two brothers, Michael Loyd of Boiling Springs and Harold Loyd of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Jo Ann Toney Godfrey of Inman and Peggy Cannivina of Inman; five grandchildren, Rev. Jeff Rutledge, Steve Rutledge, Larry Dean Smith, Jr., and Scott Smith; twelve great great grandchildren; and three great great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Smith; two brothers, G. B. Loyd and Maxie Loyd; and one sisters, Opal Perez. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
