Henry Pearson Cooper, Jr., 63, of Cowpens, SC, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 29, 1953, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of Sarah Bowman Cooper of Spartanburg, SC and the late Henry Pearson Cooper, Sr. The most selfless, soft spoken, and kind individual, Mr. Cooper was devoted to his Lord, family, and helping others. A graduate of USC-Upstate, he retired as Executive Director of the Cherokee County Disability and Special Needs Board. He was a current member of Salem United Methodist Church and former member of Limestone Presbyterian Church in Gaffney where he was a Deacon. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Wilkins Cooper; sons, Adam Cooper of Marietta, GA, John "J. P." Cooper and Andrew Cooper, both of the home; sister, Martha Cooper Ott of Boiling Springs, SC; brother, William Cooper of Elizabethtown, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Salem United Methodist Church, 5425 N. Main St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by Pastor Wayne R. Major. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330.
