Guy Franklin Fain, Jr., 88, loving husband of Naomi Scott Fain, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 24, 2015. Born May 1, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Guy F. Fain, Sr. and Alma Stacy Fain. He graduated from Wofford College where he played cornet in the Wofford College Band and served in The Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a people person and loved everyone. He was initially employed at Carolina Cash Co. before being promoted to Manager of The Bargain Center. He later moved to Rock Hill, SC to manage Graham's of Rock Hill, then to Lenoir, NC to manage Spainhour's, and completed his career as Department Manager at Belk in Lenoir. He retired and moved back to Spartanburg to live at Twin Lakes in Moore, SC. In the last few years, Guy and Naomi moved to White Oak Estates where Naomi is presently residing in The Assisted Living Complex. Guy loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Rock Hill, Lower Creek Baptist Church in Lenoir, and Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg. Guy served as a Deacon in Rock Hill, Lenoir, and later at Morningside Baptist when he returned to Spartanburg. Guy dearly loved his family. In addition to Naomi, his loving wife of 65 years, Guy is survived by their son Dr. Guy Franklin Fain III, a medical doctor, and his wife Ellen of Chattanooga, TN, grandson Guy F. Fain IV of Chattanooga, granddaughter Melissa Fain Sparks and her husband Cameron of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as brother Dr. Charles Clifford Fain of Clemson SC and his wife Ansie Lou, their daughter Tish of Clemson, and her daughter Sutton at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Michael Hensley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or charity of one's choice.
