Gretchen Price

Gretchen Kimmell Price, 95, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Summit Hills Nursing Home. Born August 26, 1915, in Medina, OH, she was the daughter of the late Roy Edwin and Gladys Geiger Kimmell, and wife of the late Dr. George W. Price, Jr. Mrs. Price was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, president of the Ladies Medical Auxiliary, and held leadership positions in other charitable organizations. Survivors include her sons, George W. Price III and his wife Betty Barker Price of Spartanburg, and W. James Price and his wife Patricia Fritz Price of Cary, NC; five grandchildren, Kim Edmunds of Birmingham, AL, J. Patrick Price of Brooklyn, NY, Zan Price of Asheville, NC, Peter Price of Seattle, WA, and Philip Price of Cary NC; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by Mr. Ken Page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Price Scholarship Fund at Wofford College, 429 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
