The family of Grace G. McKinney, RN, is saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the age of 96. Mrs. McKinney, widow of John T. McKinney, Sr., was born in Seneca, SC on October 22, 1914 to the late Clinton Orr and Janie Belle Gosnell Graham. She received her RN degree from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1935 and spent 32 years of devoted service at the Spartanburg County Health Department until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. McKinney is survived by her two sons, John T. McKinney, Jr., JD (Jane), and Dean G. McKinney, DDS (Roberta); five grandchildren, Sara Graham (Louis), Blair, John T III, Katie, and Dean Graham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family is grateful that Grace enjoyed so many years of independent living and for the help she received from Kathy Aiken. We are also grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at Eden Terrace, especially from Gail Brown and Sharon Farr. Her final days were eased by Nadine Wiggins and United Hospice. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 PM Friday, July 29, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Tommy Glenn, Graham McKinney, John McKinney, and Louis Polletta.
